Gerhard Roth

Gerhard Roth joined GHR Rechtsanwälte in 1994 and was a partner of the firm from 1996 to 2023. He was Co-Head of the Corporate/M&A practice and head of the firm's Tax practice. He now supports GHR Rechtsanwälte AG as Of Counsel.

Prior to joining GHR, Gerhard Roth was a member of the legal and tax department of Arthur Andersen in Bern and Zurich from 1992 until 1994.

Gerhard Roth focuses mainly on tax, succession planning and corporate/M&A. As head of the firm's tax practice, Gerhard Roth advises clients on matters of Swiss and international tax law, with particular emphasis on setting up domestic and cross-border corporate group structures as well as representing high net worth individuals and family offices. In the corporate/M&A area, Gerhard Roth specializes on advising SMEs in particular with respect to the succession or sales process. He also acts as the chairman of the board of several companies.

Gerhard Roth is a co-author of the Basel Commentary on the Swiss Code of Obligations (Basler Kommentar, Obligationenrecht II, Honsell/Vogt/Watter, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions, Helbing Lichtenhahn, 1994 -2008), on Swiss securities law (Basler Kommentar, Wertpapierrecht, Honsell/Vogt/Watter, Helbing Lichtenhahn, 2012) and on the Swiss Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law (Short Commentary, on the Swiss Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law, Bill of Exchange Enforcement, Hunkeler, Helbing Lichtenhahn 2014).

Furthermore, Gerhard Roth publishes the GHR TaxPage on a monthly basis since 2007.
